Tourist Arrivals Up 18.7% On Year In September

Tourist arrivals in Romania rose 18.7% in September from the year-earlier month, while overnight accommodations were up 8.8% on the year, the statistics institute INS said Friday.

Residents accounted for 75.3% of total arrivals at accommodation establishments in September, while foreigners made up for the reminder 24.7%.

The large majority of foreign visitors (56.5%) came from Europe, the data showed.

Romanian tourist departures abroad rose 4.6% on the year in September.

In January through September, tourist arrivals increased by 16% on the year, while overnight accommodations were up 12.5%.
