Foreign Investors Increasingly Interested In Romania M&A - Survey

Foreign investors are increasingly interested in Romanian companies, which may fuel the mergers and acquisitions market, particularly in sectors such as energy, banking, consumer goods and industry, according to a report from law firm CMS.

"The most attractive sectors in Romania this year are the energy sector (both green and conventional energy), financial and banking (exit companies, sales, portfolio reorganization), consumer goods and industry," said Horea Popescu, corporate partner at CMS Romania.

However, this "frenzy" on the local M&A market will not bear real fruits until 2012, added Gabriel Sidere, managing partner with the firm.

The CMS 2011 European M&A report focuses on six regions in the Old Continent, which showed an increase in the number of M&A deals by 25% in 2010, compared with the previous year.

CMS expects the European market to grow this year as well.
