Parliament Approves Nuclear Research Financing Program

Romanian lawmakers on Thursday Adopted an amendment raising financing for the Energy Ministry to fund a nuclear research program.

The Parliament approved a RON10 million raise for the ministry's budget from the government reserve fund.

 

Lawmakers Seek To Amend Criminal, Civil Codes in January

The parliament committee drafting bills to overhaul the justice system plans to amend the criminal and criminal procedure codes and the civil code.

The committee plans to submit amendments to the codes in January, said committee president Florin Iordache.

The amended bills will be then sent to the Senate.

 

Romania Abstains from UN Assembly Vote on Jerusalem

Romania and four other Eu countries abstained from voting during the UN General Assembly on Trump's declaration of Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, diplomatic sources said.

The United Nations general assembly has delivered a stinging rebuke to Donald Trump, voting by a huge majority to reject his unilateral recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Although largely symbolic, the vote in an emergency session of the world body had been the focus of days of furious diplomacy by both the Trump administration and Israel, including Trump’s threat to cut US funding to countries that did not back the US recognition.

 

VAT Exemption Cap Stays at RON220,000 Until Parliament Adopts Hike

The Finance Ministry said Wednesday the VAT exemption cap stays at the current level of RON220,000 until the Parliament adopts the new threshold of RON300,000.

The bill is currently in Parliament for debates.
