 Funds Assigned By Government For Investments To Increase 12% Next Year

The funds assigned by the Romanian government for investments will increase by 12% next year, with focus on highways and roads, repair works at hospitals and schools and the equipping of the military.

Thus, next year, the state will increase investments by 12%, from RON33.7 billion to RON37.7 billion, focusing less on the transport sector after authorities were unable to spend the money assigned for highways in the past years, according to the 2016 budget draft.

Finance Minister Anca Dragu said the state is currently focusing on higher expenses in education, health and research sectors, as well as the military and the Interior Ministry. (Adevarul)

 

Part Of Dacia Production In Mioveni Could Be Taken Over By Morocco Plant

The management of Mioveni-based Dacia plant announced the 14,000 employees that production will decrease next year and that part of the production could be taken over by the plant in Morocco, according to digi24.ro.

Dacia representatives said that the Renault plant in Morocco improved its performance and optimized manufacturing costs, allowing the takeover of additional volumes.

Nicolas Maure, managing director of Automobile Dacia, said two months ago that the plant in Morocco has similar costs with the Romanian one, given that workforce costs are lower in Morocco but spare parts costs are higher.  (Romania Libera)

 

Journalist Luca Niculescu To Be Appointed Romanian Ambassador To Paris

Journalist Luca Niculescu, editorial director of RFI Romania, will become Romania’s ambassador to Paris, after President Klaus Iohannis signs the decree for his appointment next week, Mediafax reports.

The activity of the Romanian Embassy in France is currently coordinated by an ad interim chargé d'affaires. Luca Niculescu, born in 1971, has a bachelor's degree in Journalism and a master's degree in European Journalism at the University Centre for Journalism in Strasbourg. In 1992, he became an RFI journalist and in 2000, he was appointed RFI Romania editorial director. (Adevarul)

 

Ministries And State Institutions Spent RON140.16M On Useless Projects

Romanian ministries and state institutions spent nearly RON140.16 million on prefeasibility and feasibility studies and technical projects for investments which were not carried out in the end, according to the audit report of the Court of Accounts.

The sums represent expenses which failed to achieve their efficiency targets, as they were spent without resulting in an investment objective. According to the Court of Accounts, 12 main credit release authorities benefited from budget funds to acquire feasibility studies for the implementation of investment objectives which were not carried out in the end. The amount spent on such useless feasibility studies reaches RON42.75 million (EUR9.72 million). (Puterea)

 

“Qhapaq Nan – The Inca Road System“ Photo Exhibition At National Library Of Romania

The National Library Of Romania is hosting the photography exhibition “Qhapaq Nan – The Inca Road System“ until December 9.

The event is organized with the support of the Embassy of Peru to Bucharest, and includes 47 color photos describing the road system Qhapaq Ñan and various Peruvian dwellings. Qhapaq Ñan is the main road system of Inca Empire, known as “Tawantinsuyo“, an empire which included southern Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and northern Argentina. Qhapaq Ñan is included in the UNESCO World Heritage. (Azi)
