Romania Inaugurates Missile Defense System In Deveselu

Romania will inaugurate, on Thursday, the missile defense system in Deveselu, in the presence of NATO secretary general, Jens Stoltenbnerg, Romanian Prime Mister Dacian Ciolos and other Romanian and US officials.

Thus, the missile defense system becomes active and integrated in NATO defense system.

NATO secretary general, Jens Stoltenberg, will come to Romania today, to participate in the  inauguration of the “U.

S. Aegis Ashore Missile Defense System Romania“ and to have talks with the Romanian officials about the maintenance and improvement of the security of NATO states in the eastern European flank.

Stoltenbnerg will meet with the Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, with the PM as well as with Foreign Minister Lazar Comaanescu and Defense Minister Mihnea Motoc. (Adevarul)

 

Investors To Continue To Secure Lands For Residential Developments

The residential market in Romania remains underdeveloped, and long-term investors are expected to continue to secure lands for residential developments since prices are affordable and demand for new homes is increasing, according to a DTZ Echinox report.

Dominant retailers still have expansion plans for Bucharest and will continue to acquire lands located mainly in neighborhoods with high residential densities. The volume of commercial land transactions doubled in the first quarter of 2016 compared with the same period a year before, to a total value of EUR35 million.

Early this year, Swedish investor Vastint acquired a 48 ha plot in Baneasa – Sisesti area for a mixed (mainly residential) project.  (Romania Libera)

 

Romania Earmarks EUR145M For Investments In Economy

The Romanian Government increased by 50% the annual maximum budget for stimulating investments in economy, from EUR100 million to EUR145 million, following a legislative amendment.

The draft act is the result of consultations with representatives of the business environment and targets to simplify, render flexible and reduce bureaucracy in order to make the mechanism for state aid scheme more efficient.

Government Decision no. 807/2014, which establishes state aid schemes for the purpose of stimulating investments with major impact on the economy, aims to support all enterprises making an initial investment of at least RON44 million, VAT not included.

The state aid scheme is valid until December 31, 2020 and the Finance Ministry is the provider of state aid. (Puterea)

 

Liviu Dragnea Says PSD Will Get 35% At Local Elections

The president of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), Liviu Dragnea, told his colleagues that the party will get 35% at the local elections scheduled for June 5.

PSD sources told EVZ newspaper that the campaign team targets, in fact, 5 percentage points more than 35%.

Over half of the mayors in Romania are currently PSD members. Sources in the party leadership said that PSD has 1,600-1,700 mayors of the total 3,200 mayors in Romania.

“PSD will not fall below 35%,” Liviu Dragnea told Antena 3 TV station on Monday. (Evenimentul Zilei)

 

Hexi Pharma Starts Legal Procedures For Closedown

Romanian pharmaceutical company Hexi Pharma, involved in the recent scandal with diluted disinfectants used in Romanian hospitals, announced it started the legal procedures for closing down the company and for withdrawing all the products from the market.

After government representatives announced Wednesday that Hexi Pharma disinfectants supplied to hospitals were diluted, the company’s representatives stated that the company is publicly apologizing to the medical staff and to all the persons who were or could have been affected by the use of the improper products.

Hexi Pharma filed for insolvency on May 10. (Puterea)
