Hidroelectrica To Exit Insolvency In May 2016

Romanian state-owned power producer Hidroelectrica will exit insolvency in May 2016, according to Remus Borza, Hidroelectrica’s legal administrator. Nevertheless, Romania’s largest energy producer still has six months to fight insolvency and “smart guys”.

‘We have 9 lawsuits left of the total 75. We won 66 lawsuits by irrevocable decision. In May 2016, we are done and we will exit insolvency,” Borza told EVZ.

The company will most likely be listed on Bucharest Stock Exchange in November 2016.

“Hidroelectrica is a vital company for the economy of Romania. Any attack against the company is an attack against the national security,” Borza stated. (Evenimentul Zilei)

 

PMP Sets Electoral Target For Legislative Election At 15-20%

Traian Basescu stated that People’s Movement (PMP) set its electoral target for legislative election in 2016 at 15-20%, starting with 10-12% at local elections.

"These are targets that are not mentioned in any document of People’s Movement, but, if we target 15-20% for legislative election in 2016, we have to get 10-12% at local elections by political vote," said Basescu at the end of PMP National Executive Council.

PMP president added that, during the meeting, they talked about the continuation of the processes to organize internal elections and analyzed the candidate’s preparation for local elections. (Puterea)

 

Parliament OKs Draft Law On Paying Off Mortgage Loans With Mortgaged Property

The law committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved the draft law on the payment of mortgage loans with the mortgaged property, available in the relation between individuals and lenders or non-banking financial institutions.

According to the draft law, the debtor has the right to pay off mortgage loans by transferring the ownership right over the mortgaged property to the lender. Thus, the debtor should notify the lender, through a judicial executor, a notary public or a lawyer, on the decision to transfer the property right over the mortgaged property. Subsequently, the lender will no longer be allowed to ask for additional amounts of money. (Romania Libera)

 

Vaccination Draft Law Was Finalized And Will Be Analyzed By Legal Consultants

The vaccination draft law has been finalized and will be analyzed by legal consultants, then it will be subject to debates, according to prof. dr. Alexandru Rafila, head of the Romanian Society of Microbiology and member in the Standing Committee of the WHO Europe Regional Office.

The draft law includes several important points, including the setup of territorial directions of supervision and information.

“We are trying to avoid some of the shortcomings that had previously impacted the vaccination program. First of all, I want to mention the issue related to the act of vaccination, namely the permanent availability of vaccine doses at family physicians,” Rafila said. (Evenimentul Zilei)

 

Over Quarter Of EU Children At Risk Of Poverty And Social Exclusion

Over quarter of the children in Europe are at risk of poverty and social exclusion, with the highest share in Romania (51%), according to a Eurostat report.

The data was published by the European Parliament Information office in Romania on Tuesday, when EU deputies voted a resolution urging EU states to stimulate the efforts to fight poverty among children and social inequality, recommending EU member states to guarantee access to free and high-quality education. According to UN Convention on Human Rights, all children should have the right to education, healthcare services, dwelling, spare time and a balanced diet. Nevertheless, in Europe, approximately 26 million children (under 18), or 27.7% of the total, are under risk of poverty and social exclusion, according to a Eurostat report for 2014.  (Adevarul)
