Privatization Success Rate In Romania Between 1990-2014 Was Below 25%

In the last 25 years, the success rate of privatizations in Romania was below 25%, while the country sold 7,726 state-owned companies and lost over 2 million jobs, according to Cristina Chiriac, head of National Association of Entrepreneurs.

"In 1989, there was no private sector in Romania. Several programs started in 1990, and the main stipulation of the programs in the last 25 years was privatization. In this period, 7,726 companies were privatized, and the success rate is lower than 25%. In other words, less than 25% of the privatized companies are still alive. The social effect of this phenomenon is the loss of 2 million jobs," Chiriac stated, during a conference on the impact of the Tax Code over the SMEs. (Puterea)
