Bucharest Bourse Opens Slightly Up, Blue-Chips Decline

Shares traded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange opened Wednesday on a generally upward trend, but blue-chips were dragged down by declines of investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and gas pipeline operator Transgaz (TGN.RO).

At around GMT0734, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was up 0.14%, but the main index BET was down 0.11%.

BET-FI, the index tracking the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, and Proprietatea fund, was down 0.22%.

The BET Extended index, which tracks the top 25 blue-chips, was down 0.05%, while the energy companies index BET-NG was rising 0.5%.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange by GMT0736 amounted to 4.88 million lei (EUR1.2 million).

Popular stock early Wednesday included chemical company Oltchim (OLT.

RO), the Proprietatea fund, SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO), SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1.RO). (EUR1=RON4.0885)
