Bucharest Shares Close Down, On Lackluster Trading

The Bucharest bourse closed Tuesday slightly in the red, after a session-long downward trend, while the bulk of activity targeted investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs.

The Bucharest bourse closed Tuesday slightly in the red, after a session-long downward trend, while the bulk of activity targeted investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C dropped 0.33% on the day, to 3,508.09, while the 10-share blue-chip tracker BET fell 0.39% on the day, to 5,894.29.

BET-FI, the index tracking the Proprietatea fund and the SIFs, fell 0.44%, to 25,839.8.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, dropped 0.47% on the day, to 549.91, while energy companies index BET-NG closed at 830.14, down 0.67% on the day.

Trades unfolded Tuesday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to 12.89 million lei (EUR3.16 million), with RON5.85 million coming from one deal market transaction in the stock of construction company Concefa (COFI.RO).

The Proprietatea fund, today's top-traded issuer on the regular market, closed down 0.17% on the day, to RON0.579, on a traded value of RON2.41 million.

State-owned gas transporter Transgaz (TGN.RO) inched up 0.06%, to RON270, on a traded value of RON808,663.

Other popular issuers Tuesday included SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) - down 0.63% to RON1.58, Concefa - down 1.33% to RON0.1338 in regular market trades, and lender Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) - down 0.55% to RON143.6.
