Bucharest Shares Close Slightly Down, Traded Values Stay Low

The Bucharest bourse closed Monday with a small decrease, while activity in the market continued to stay low, as investors are waiting for the ex-dividend dates to pass, brokers say.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C closed down 0.18%, to 3,431.89, while the 10-share blue-chip tracker BET fell 0.27%, to 5,781.88.

BET-FI, the index tracking the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, as well as investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO), dropped 0.78%, to 25,094.09.

The BET Extended index, or BET-XT, which tracks the top 25 blue-chips, fell 0.47%, to 538.3, while the energy companies index, BET-NG, inched down 0.04%, to 800.52.

Trades unfolded Monday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to 26.97 million lei (EUR6.6 million), with RON3.78 million coming from one deal market trade in state-owned gas transporter Transgaz (TGN.

RO).

The Proprietatea fund was Monday's top-traded issuer. Its stock closed down 0.36%, to RON0.557, on a traded value of RON5.61 million.

Lender Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) was the second-top traded issuer. Its stock fell 0.4%, to RON1.51, on a traded value of RON3.2 million.

Other popular stock included SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO), down 1.13% to RON1.315, lender BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO), down 0.14% to RON14.6, and oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO), up 0.12% to RON0.429. (EUR1=RON4.1039)
