Bucharest Shares Close Up, On Low Traded Values

The Bucharest bourse closed Thursday on an upward stance, but on very low traded values as half of the issuers are suspended due to shareholder meetings.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C rose 0.78% on the day, to 3,558.14, while th e10-share blue-chip tracker BET gained 0.71%, to 5,978.36.

BET-FI, the index tracking the Proprietatea fund and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, inched up 0.02%, to 25,831.57.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, rose 0.57% on the day, to 555.63, while energy companies index BET-NG closed at 841.62, up 0.71% on the day.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange Thursday amounted to 5.82 million lei (EUR1.43 million).

Lender BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) was today's top-traded issuer. Its shares closed up 0.73%, to RON15.1, on a traded value of RON1.65 million.

OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) was the second-top traded issuer. Its shares rose 2.33% on the day, to RON0.44, on trades worth a total RON1.12 million.

Other popular stock Thursday included Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) - down 2.64% to RON140.2, bourse operator BVB (BVB.RO) - up 1.94% to RON42, and oil rig services company Dafora (DAFR.RO) - up 0.08% to RON0.13.
