Bucharest Shares Close Up, SIF Muntenia Keeps BET-FI In Red

The Bucharest bourse closed Friday with robust increase, but BET-FI, the index tracking the major investment funds, lost more than 1% on average, due to a dive of SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO) shares.

The BET-FI index, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the regional investment funds SIFs, was single-handedly brought down 0.58% by SIF Muntenia, which fell 11.17% to 0.815 lei (EUR0.2).

However, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C rose 1.28% on the day, to 3,397.81, while the blue-chip tracker BET climbed 1.25% on the day to 5,719.38.

The BET Extended index, or BET-XT, which tracks the top 25 most-traded shares, rose 0.53% to 524.16, while the energy companies tracker BET-NG closed at 792.29, up 1.84% on the day.

Trades unfolded Friday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to RON26.82 million, with RON12.17 million coming from trades in the Proprietatea fund.

SIF Muntenia was the second-top traded issuer, following transactions worth a total RON2.64 million.

Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) shares rose 1.06% to RON1.519, while SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO) stock gained 2.6% on the day, to RON1.421.

Oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) saw its stock rise 1.33% to RON0.419, on a traded value of RON1.22 million. (EUR1=RON4.106)
