Bucharest Shares Inch Up After Eventless Session

The Bucharest bourse closed Friday with a slight increase, while activity in the market narrowed drastically.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C closed up 0.07% to 3,342.8, and the 10-share blue-chip tracker BET rose a mere 0.05% on the day, to 5,624.54.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, increased 0.13%, to 22,775.15.

The BET Extended index, or BET-XT, which tracks the top 25 blue-chips, closed at 515.76, up 0.03% on the day, while the energy companies tracker, BET-NG, rose 0.4% to 799.07.

Trades unfolded Friday on the Bucharest Stock Exchange amounted to 9.88 million lei (EUR2.4 million), with RON2.5 million coming from bond trades and RON1.7 million coming from transactions with futures and structured products. Thursday's overall traded value stood at RON36.85 million.

The Proprietatea fund was Friday's top-traded issuer. Its stock dropped 0.1% on the day, to RON0.5065, on a traded value of RON1.32 million.

SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO), today's second-top traded stock, rose 1.43% to RON1.275, on a traded value of RON839,352.

Other popular stock Friday included SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO), which dropped 0.71% to RON1.4, Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO), which rose 0.33% to RON1.234, and BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO), which fell 1.17% to RON14.4. (EUR1=RON4.1091)
