Bucharest Shares Open Down, Trading Stays Moderate

The Bucharest bourse opened Wednesday with a slight decrease, on a quiet market, while the shares of investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) were suspended for a shareholder meeting.

The Bucharest bourse opened Wednesday with a slight decrease, on a quiet market, while the shares of investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) were suspended for a shareholder meeting.

At around GMT0746, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was down 0.14%, while 10-share blue-chip index BET was down as well, by 0.02% from Tuesday's closing level.

BET-FI, the index tracking the Proprietatea fund and the SIFs, was falling 0.28%.

Wider blue-chip index BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, was down 0.15%, while energy company tracker BET-NG was rising 0.1% on the day.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange by GMT0748 amounted to 684,051 lei (EUR168,000) as the usual liquidity driver, Fondul Proprietatea, was suspended.

Top-traded issuers early Wednesday included medicine maker Zentiva (SCD.RO), SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO), plane parts maker Aerostar (ARS.RO), chemical company Oltchim (OLT.RO) and oil services firm Dafora (DAFR.RO). (EUR1=RON4.0735)
