Bucharest Shares Open Slightly Up In Calm Trading

The Bucharest bourse was on an slightly upward trend in early trade Thursday, with VES Sighisoara (VESY.RO) leading gainers in back-to-back sessions, after significant changes in ownership structure, while Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) was again on a losing path.

At 10:33 local time (GMT0733), the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was up 0.33% from Wednesday's closing value, while the main index BET was up a mere 0.08%.

BET-FI, the index that tracks Proprietatea fund and the five regional investment funds SIFs, was flat as the SIFs were offsetting Proprietatea's 2% decline.

The extended blue-chip index BET-XT was gaining 0.14%, while the energy stocks tracker BET-NG was up almost 0.5%.

The bourse's overall traded value was at 3.5 million lei (EUR0.85 million) at around 10:40.

Proprietatea and VES were the most-traded issuers in early session, followed by SSIF Broker (BRK.RO), Alro Slatina (ALR.RO) and the SIFs. (EUR1=RON4.1184)
