Bucharest Stocks Close Down After Lackluster Session

The Bucharest stock exchange closed in red Monday, following the evolution of international markets, while the interest for trading local shares was extremely reduced.

BET closed down 26.91 points, or 0.41%, to 6,458.51, while composite index BET-C lost 0.2% to 3,341.39 points.

Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) fell 1.3% and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) was down 1.8%, but their declines were partially offset by BRD’s (BRD.RO) 1.5% advance.

Transgaz (TGN.RO) and Romgaz (SNG.RO) were the most traded stocks in Bucharest Monday, and they both closed flat on the day.

BET-FI, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds (SIFs), was down 225.26 points, or 0.72%, to 31,262.73.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK dropped 0.5%, while extended blue-chip index BET-XT closed 0.42% lower. Energy sector index BET-NG inched 0.02% higher.

The bourse’s turnover was reduced, with share transfers reaching just 15.4 million lei (EUR3.4 million) in eight hours of trading. (EUR1=RON4.4947)
