Bucharest Stocks Close Slightly Down, After Lackluster Trade

The Bucharest bourse inched lower Tuesday, as investors’ interest faltered, with only financial stocks gaining some attention.
BET closed down 8.44 points, or 0.14%, at 5,824.78, while general index BET-C lost a mere 3.74 points, or 0.12%, to 3,064.6.
OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) fell 0.4% and Transgaz (TGN.RO) lost 0.5%, while Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) decreased 0.2%. But Transelectrica (TEL.RO) rose 0.7%, while BRD (BRD.RO) was flat on the day.
The financial stocks were hit harder, and BET-FI--which tracks the five regional investment funds (SIFs) and Fondul Proprietatea--went down 177.15 points, or 0.68%, to 26,044.27.
All the SIFs were in red, with SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1.RO) losing 3.1%.Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK closed down 0.38%, but energy stocks tracker BET-NG went up 0.15%, lifted by Rompetrol Rafinare’s (RRC.RO) 2% rise.
The bourse’s traded value was reduced, with share transfers reaching 11.7 million lei (EUR2.6 million), down from RON60.2 million on Monday. However, yesterday’s total was lifted by special deals with SIF Banat-Crisana shares, and the regular market value was RON14.8 million. (EUR1=RON4.476)
