Bucharest Stocks End Down After Quiet Session

The Bucharest stock exchange closed down Friday, after a quiet session in which very few shares attracted some interest.

BET was down 62.25 points, or 0.96%, at 6,417.32, while composite index BET-C lost 23.76 points, or 0.72%, to 3,269.87.

Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) fell 2%, Transgaz (TGN.RO) declined 1.5%, while BRD (BRD.RO), OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) and Transelectrica (TEL.RO) were each down 0.8%.

BET-FI, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds (SIFs), lost 231.67 points, or 0.84%, to 27,384.01, as all but one of its constituents closed in red territory. SIF Muntenia (SIF4.

RO) was flat on the day, while the SIFs lost between 0.7% and 2.7%. Proprietatea closed 0.5% lower.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was down 0.75%, while BET-XT closed 0.91% lower. Energy sector index BET-NG declined 0.85%.

The traded values were reduced Friday, with share transfers worth 24.9 million lei (EUR5.6 million), slightly down from RON26 million on Thursday. Fondul Proprietatea was the most traded issuer, with transfers of RON9.7 million, followed by Banca Transilvania, woth RON1.7 million. (EUR1=RON4.4517)
