07.07.2014 By Bogdan Neagu

The Bucharest stock exchange was down for most of Monday session, staying in line with international markets, as no major events caught the attention of local investors.

The BET index closed down 49.03 points, or 0.7%, to 6,966.21, while BETPlus declined 0.67% to 1032.13 points.

Among the most traded stocks, Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) lost 0.2%, while Electrica fell by 1.5% to 11.09 lei (EUR2.5), close to the final price in the initial public offering ended in June.

Investment funds fared no better, with SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO) losing 1.8% and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1.RO) down 2.1%, and the BET-FI index closed 0.66% lower, at 29,892.16 points.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK fell 1.02%, and energy index BET-NG was down 0.94%. BET-XT closed 0.72% lower than Friday.

The traded values were generally larger than in a usual summer day, with share transfers reaching RON51.5 million (EUR11.7 million).

Proprietatea accounted for more than half of the total amount, thanks to a special deal worth RON16.8 million, and regular market trades of RON11.4 million.

Electrica, in its second day of trading after the IPO, amassed a traded value of RON6.1 million, while transactions with stock of Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) totaled 4.1%. Erste fell once again, ending down 3.5%, after last week’s profit warning coming from higher risk costs in Romania and Hungary. (EUR1=RON4.3867)
