Bucharest Stocks End Down, Petrom Falls 2%

The shares of oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) fell almost 2% Monday, dragging the Bucharest bourse’s BET index down 0.7%, in a quiet trading session.

BET, which tracks the 10 most traded stocks in Bucharest, closed at 5,932.14, down 41.96 points from Friday closing level. Composite index BET-C was down 20.37 points, or 0.65%, to 3,116.25.

The other blue-chip posted, in general, small declines, with Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) closing 0.13% lower, while Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) lost 0.58%. BRD (BRD.RO) fell 0.23%, Transgaz (TGN.RO) was 0.27% lower, but Transelectrica (TEL.RO) rose 0.23%.

BET-FI, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea and the five regional investment funds (SIFs), inched 0.1% lower, while extended blue-chip index BET-XT was down 0.57%.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK declined 0.56%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG was down 0.76%.

The bourse’s traded value was not very high, with share transfers reaching 14.7 million lei (EUR3.3 million). Transfers with Fondul Proprietatea stock amounted to RON3 million, while trades with Transelectrica shares were at RON2.1 million. (EUR1=RON4.4404)
