08.26.2014 By Bogdan Neagu

The Bucharest stock exchange was unmoved by the enthusiasm wave on foreign markets, where US indexes tested new highs.

Both the BET and the BETPlus indexes closed almost unchanged, as they did yesterday.

Electrica (EL.RO) closed up 0.55% at 11.16 lei (EUR2.5) per share, the highest price since the company’s listing on July 4. Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) went up 0.2%, and Transelectrica (TEL.RO) rose 0.3%, but the main indexes were dragged down by Romgaz (SNG.RO) and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO), which fell by 0.4% and 0.6% respectively.

BET-FI was up 0.36%, while BET-XT inched 0.06% higher.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK rose 0.24%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG was unchanged.

The traded values fell abruptly from a two-month high reached yesterday. The bourse’s total turnover was RON17.8 million (EUR3.8 million), compared with RON117.3 million Monday.

Proprietatea, Electrica and Transelectrica each gathered total stock trades of more than RON3 million, while deals with Romgaz shares reached RON1.9 million (EUR1=RON4.3964)
