Bucharest Stocks End Mixed, Investors Focus On Few Blue-Chips

The Bucharest stock exchange was little changed Monday, with several stocks ensuring 90% of all the traded value in a rather quiet session.

The BET index closed up 14.7 points, or 0.23%, to 6,310.08, while general index BET-C was down a mere 1.36 points, or 0.04%, to 3,277.84.

Investment fund tracker BET-FI was almost unchanged at 30,328.9 points, or 0.01% higher than Friday. Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) closed down 0.12%, while SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO) was down 1.02%, but the other four regional investment funds (SIFs) closed in green.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK closed up 0.2%, and BET-XT was 0.18% higher, but energy stocks tracker BET-NG was down 0.12%.

The bourse’s traded value reached 51.1 million lei (EUR11.5 million), up 17% on the day, supported by a few stocks.

Fondul Proprietatea, Transgaz (TGN.RO), Romgaz (SNG.RO), OMV Petrom (SNP.RO), BRD (BRD.RO) and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) ensured almost 90% of the total traded value.

Transgaz rose 0.55% and Banca Transilvania added 1%, while BRD and Petrom were flat on the day. (EUR1=RON4.4537)
