Bucharest Stocks End Mixed, Traded Value Falls

The Bucharest stock exchange closed nearly unchanged Wednesday, as interest for trading was very low, with investors turning to Romgaz public offering.

The BET index inched down 0.08% to 6,036.04 points, but composite index BET-C closed 0.21% higher, at 3,162.05.

Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) fell 0.75%, but all the five regional investment funds (SIFs) closed up, leading to a 0.32% advance of the BET-FI index.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up 0.94%, lifted by the 5.9% increase of Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) in the day the bank announced its quarterly financial results.

The extended blue-chip index BET-XT was up 0.25%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG rose 0.61%.

The bourse’s traded value was reduced, as investors pay more attention to the Romgaz initial public offering, which closes tomorrow. Share transfers amounted to just 13.1 million lei (EUR2.9 million), significantly lower than RON50.8 million on Tuesday. (EUR1=RON4.4304)
