Bucharest Stocks End Slightly Up, SIFs Fall

The Bucharest stock exchange closed slightly up Thursday, lifted by Transgaz (TGN.RO) and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO), but the regional investment funds (SIFs) had disappointing evolutions.

The Bucharest bourse’s BET index inched 0.16% higher in Thursday trading, with Transgaz gaining 1.4% and Banca Transilvania rising 1.1%, despite OMV Petrom’s (SNP.RO) 0.65% decrease.

Composite index BET-C closed up a mere 0.02%, but investment fund tracker BET-FI fell 0.7%. Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) was flat on the day, but SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO) and SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO) were down 2.6% and 1.7%, respectively.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK declined 0.49%, and BET-XT was down 0.2%.

Energy stocks tracker BET-NG rose 0.17%.

The interest for trading was reduced, and the value of share transfers halved to 17.9 million lei (EUR4.1 million), from RON33.3 million on Tuesday. Wednesday, the market was closed for a national holiday.

Fondul Proprietatea covered around 70% of the turnover, with its shares generating a traded value of RON12.4 million. (EUR1=RON4.3352)
