Bucharest Stocks End Up, With Banks Leading The Charge

The Bucharest stock exchange closed higher Monday, after a quiet session with significant moves only in the final hours, when banks led the rally.

The BET index rose 1.29%, supported by increases of BRD (BRD.RO) and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO), which closed up 2.58% and 3%, respectively.

Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) was up 0.46%, while OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) was flat on the day.

Composite index BET-C was 0.83% higher, while investment fund tracker BET-FI gained 0.54%.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK rose 0.72%, while BET-XT was up 1.11%.

Energy stocks tracker BET-NG inched 0.02% higher.

The bourse’s traded value reached 29.8 million lei (EUR6.7 million), helped by bond transactions worth RON10.7 million.

Share transfers reached RON18.1 million, with Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) and Fondul Proprietatea covering half of the amount. (EUR1=RON4.4201)
