Bucharest Stocks Gain In Early Trade, Banca Transilvania Rises 5%

The Romanian stock exchange rose Thursday morning, unlike the main European markets which were mostly undecided in early trade, with Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) giving a strong push to Bucharest indexes.

Bucharest bourse’s BET index was up 1.65% at around 10:30 local time (GMT0730), as Banca Transilvania traded 5.7% higher. Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) was up 1.8% and Transelectrica (TEL.RO) traded 1.3% higher.

Composite index BET-C and benchmark index BET-BK were both up 1%, while BET-XT was gaining 1.5%.

Investment fund tracker BET-FI was up 1.3%, as all the five SIFs were in green territory, while energy stocks index BET-NG traded up 0.4%. OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) was down 0.1%, but Transgaz (TGN.

RO) inched 0.1% higher.

Traded values were lower than in recent sessions, reaching 4.4 million lei (EUR1 million), after 30 minutes of trading, with Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) accounting for almost half of the value. (EUR1=RON4.3344)
