Bucharest Stocks Inch Higher, SIFs Fall

The Bucharest stock exchange rose slightly in Friday session, but all the five regional investment funds (SIFs) closed lower on generally reduced traded values.

BET closed up 0.21% at 5,800.56 points, while composite index BET-C was up a mere 0.09% to 3,407.79 points.

BET-FI, which tracks the SIFs and Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO), was down 71.79 points, or 0.28%, to 25,352.03. Proprietatea inched 0.07% higher to 0.6805 lei (EUR0.15) per share.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was down a mere 0.05%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG fell 0.13%.

The bourse’s overall traded value was lifted by a special deal with SIF Moldova (SIF2.

RO) stock worth RON31.7 million, while other deals with BRD (BRD.RO), Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) and OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) added RON4.5 million. Share transfers amounted to RON45.8 million (EUR10.3 million) Friday, up from RON 27 million in the previous session.

On the regular market, few stocks amassed enough interest. Proprietatea was the top traded issuer, with transfers worth RON5.8 million, while BRD was the only other stock that reached RON1 million on the main market. (EUR1=RON4.4367)
