Bucharest Stocks Inch Lower In Early Trade, On Low Interest

The Bucharest stock exchange opened up Monday, but soon turned negative, while the interest for trading was very low.

At around 11:00 local time (GMT0900), the Bucharest bourse’s BET index was down 0.19% from Friday closing level, while general index BET-C was down 0.21%.

BET-FI, which tracks the five regional investment funds (SIFs) and Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO), was down 0.14%, while extended blue-chip index BET-XT inched 0.09% lower.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up a mere 0.07%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG traded 0.15% higher.

Among the most traded shares, Fondul Proprietatea was down 0.8%, but Nuclearelectrica (SNN.

RO) was 0.35% higher. OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) and Transgaz (TGN.RO) were flat on the day.

The traded values were very low, and share transfers barely reached 0.74 million lei (EUR0.16 million) after an hour of trading. (EUR1=RON4.4424)
