Bucharest Stocks Open Down, SIF Moldova Falls 17%

The Bucharest stock exchange opened in negative territory Thursday, with SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) sinking in the ex-dividend day.

At around 10:32 local time (GMT0732), the local bourse’s BET index was down 0.35% from Wednesday closing level, while composite index BET-C was losing 0.18%.

BET-FI, which tracks the main investment funds, was falling 2.25%, dragged down by SIF Moldova’s 17% decline. Wednesday was the last day in which investors registered as shareholders in the fund could benefit from the dividend paid for last year.

Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) was up 0.45%, and SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO) inched 0.1% higher, while SIF Oltenia (SIF5.

RO) and SIF Banat-Crisana (SIF1.RO) were down 0.7% and 0.8% respectively.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was down 0.88% and BET-XT was down 1.19%.

Energy stocks tracker BET-NG was down 0.27%, with OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) losing 0.8% and Transgaz (TGN.RO) trading flat after yesterday’s 3.5% decline.

Trading values were very low, reaching just 0.7 million lei (EUR0.17 million). (EUR1=RON4.3668)
