Bucharest Stocks Open Nearly Flat On Extremely Low Traded Values

09.11.2013 By Bogdan Neagu

The Bucharest stock market stood still Wednesday morning, as the interest for trading was extremely reduced, with investors focusing on Nuclearelectrica’s initial public offering.

After one hour of the session, the bourse’s turnover was at just 0.2 million lei (EUR0.05 million). By the end of Tuesday’s session, small investors subscribed 2.3 times more shares than they are offered at an initial public offering for 10% in state-run nuclear power producer Nuclearelectrica. The IPO runs until September 20, but small investors benefit for an 8% discount for shares subscribed in the first three days of the offering that started Monday.

At around 11:00 local time (GMT0800), all the bourse’s indexes were in red territory, but the declines were barely reaching 0.3%.

International markets were also registering small variations Wednesday morning.
