Bucharest Stocks Open Up, Following International Trend

The Bucharest stock market was in sync with international exchanges Thursday morning, gaining 1% after the first 30 minutes of trading.

The bourse’s BET index was up 1.03% at 10:30 local time (GMT0830), while composite index BET-C was gaining 0.82%.

International markets posted strong gains after the US Federal Reserve decided to reduce its bond acquisition program, a move interpreted by analysts worldwide that the economy is starting to recover.

BET-FI, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds (SIFs), was up 1.4%.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up 0.98%, while extended blue-chip index BET-XT was up 1.14%.

Energy stocks tracker BET-NG was up 0.25%.

The bourse’s traded value reached 2.3 million lei (EUR0.5 million) after 30 minutes of the session, with three SIFs leading the charts. (EUR1=RON4.4749)
