Bucharest Stocks Open Up On Low Traded Values

The Bucharest stock exchange opened slightly higher Wednesday, while the investors’ interest remained very low.

At around 10:30 local time (GMT0730), the Bucharest bourse’s BET index was up 0.44% from Tuesday closing level, while composite index BET-C was 0.41% higher.

BET-FI, the index that tracks Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds (SIFs) inched up 0.13%. Proprietatea traded up 0.4%, slightly off an all-time high of 0.728 lei (EUR0.16) per share, which was reached in the previous two sessions as well.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up 0.21%, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG was gaining 0.39%.

The traded values were reduced in early session Wednesday, with share transfers reaching just RON0.5 million (EUR0.1 million). However, structured product trades worth some RON1.4 million lifted the bourse’s overall traded value to RON1.9 million. (EUR1=RON4.4684)
