Bucharest Stocks Open Up On Revived Interest

The Bucharest stock exchange traded higher in the first hour of the Wednesday session, amid revived interest from investors.

At 11:00 local time (GMT0900), the Bucharest bourse’s BET index was up 0.35% from Tuesday closing level, while composite index gained 0.57%.

The advance was supported by bank stocks, with Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) gaining 0.6% and BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) up 0.4%.

Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) was up 0.3%, while Romgaz (SNG.RO) added 0.4%.

BET-FI, which tracks Fondul Proprietatea and the five regional investment funds (SIFs), was up 0.54%, while extended blue-chip index BET-XT was increasing 0.41%.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK traded 0.97% higher, while energy stocks tracker BET-NG was up 0.45%.

Among the highest risers, Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) was up 6.7%, while Rompetrol Rafinare (RRC.RO) traded 5.4% higher.

The traded values were higher than in recent sessions, with share transfers reaching 15.4 million lei (EUR3.4 million) at 11:00, also supported by special deals with Proprietatea and BRD stock worth RON4.6 million. Fondul Proprietatea was the most traded issuer on the regular market, as well, with a turnover of RON6.1 million. (EUR1=RON4.501)
