Bucharest Stocks Rise Slightly In Pre-Christmas Trading

The Bucharest stock exchange closed higher Monday in the last trading day before Christmas, as the pre-holiday mood reflected in the trading values.

The bourse’s BET index was up 0.62% to 6,416.22 points, while composite index BET-C rose 0.38% to 3,314.6 points.

BET-FI increased 0.56%, supported by SIF Transilvania (SIF3.RO), with a 1.5% advance, and SIF Muntenia (SIF4.RO), which gained 1%. Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) closed up 0.3%.

Among the blue-chips, Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO) rose 2.1%, while the shares of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB.RO) were up 2.8%, while BRD (BRD.RO) fell 0.4%.

Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK was up 0.55%, while BET-XT rose 0.58%.

Energy sector index BET-NG closed 0.42% higher.

The bourse’s turnover of 23.9 million lei (EUR5.3 million) was still 30% higher than Friday’s, but it was supported by special deals with Romgaz (SNG.RO) shares worth RON5.1 million. On the regular market, Fondul Proprietatea, Transgaz (TGN.RO) and Romgaz were the most traded issuers, and the three stocks ensured about 60% of the bourse’s total traded value. (EUR1=RON4.4756)
