Electrica Shares Fall, Bucharest Bourse Follows Trend

The Bucharest stock exchange closed down Thursday, with the BET index losing around 0.7%, while Electrica shares lost 1.8%, falling behind the initial offering price.

Electrica closed at 10.8 lei (EUR2.5) per share, lower than the final price in the IPO that run last month (RON11).

Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and Romgaz (SNG.RO) led the BET index down, with declines of 1.2% and 1.8% respectively, while Erste Group Bank (EBS.RO) continued its bad performance of late, with a 3.4% drop.

BET-FI fell 1.62%, while BETPlus was down 0.7%, while Bucharest benchmark index BET-BK declined 1.13%.

Energy stocks tracker BET-NG closed 0.46% lower, and BET-XT was down 0.91%.

The bourse’s overall traded value was fueled by transactions with Electrica stock, which accounted for more than half of the RON70.8 million (EUR16.1 million). (EUR1=RON4.3952)
