03.25.2015 By Bogdan Neagu

The Romanian leu lost ground against the euro in the second half of Wednesday session, unlike the other currencies in the region, but the transferred volumes were reduced.

The leu closed at 4.415 to the euro, from 4.407 to the euro at Tuesday close. It had opened flat and stayed around the opening levels in the first part of the session, before losing little ground towards the closing hours.

Elsewhere in the region, the Hungarian forint was up 0.3% against the euro, while the Polish zloty was gaining 0.2%.

The Romanian central bank set the leu’s reference rate at 4.4077 per euro, marginally weaker than 4.4045 per euro on Tuesday.

On the money market, overnight rates were stable at 0.4%-0.8% a year.
