Leu Flat Vs Euro On Low Volumes

The Romanian leu was stable against the euro in early trade Friday, on low volumes, with dealers expecting a quiet session as the US market is closed for a national holiday.

At around 10:45 local time (GMT0745), the leu traded at 4.388/4.39 per euro, almost unchanged from 4.3895/4.391 per euro at Thursday closing

Elsewhere in the region, the Hungarian forint was up 0.15% versus the euro, while the Polish zloty was stable.

The Romanian central bank set Thursday the leu’s exchange rate at 4.3878 per euro, slightly changed from 4.3867 per euro the day before.

On the money market Friday morning, overnight rates were down to 0.75%-1.25% a year, from 1.3%-1.8% a year Thursday.
