Leu Gains Vs Euro In Early Trade, On Low Volumes

The Romanian leu traded below 4.48 against the euro in early session Friday, in a quiet market with low transferred volumes, dealers said.

The leu opened at 4.4845/4.4875 to the euro, weaker than 4.4825/4.485 to the euro at Thursday close.

However, the leu soon started to gain and reached 4.4765/4.4785 to the euro at around 10:30 local time (GMT0830).

The Romanian central bank set Thursday the leu’s exchange rate at 4.4806 per euro, the weakest since September 12.

On the money market Friday morning, overnight rates were stable at around 0.8%-1.3% a year.
