Leu In Ranges Vs Euro, On Low Volumes

The Romanian leu traded slightly above 4.46 to the euro in early session Wednesday, in a quiet market, dealers said.

The leu opened at 4.463 per euro, little changed from 4.4605/4.4635 per euro at Tuesday close. It traded in a very tight range in the first hour of the session, and it traded around 4.464 to the euro soon after 10:00 local time (GMT0700).

The other currencies in the region were also posting modest variations Wednesday morning.

The Romanian central bank set Tuesday the leu’s exchange rate at 4.4653 per euro, from 4.4705 per euro in the previous session.

On the money market Wednesday morning, overnight rates were at 2.75%-3.25% a year.
