Leu Opens Down, Trades Around 4.48 Vs Euro

The Romanian leu stayed on a downward path Monday morning, trading around 4.48 against the euro, as investors are cutting their exposure on emerging markets.

The leu opened at 4.478/4.48 to the euro, from 4.465/4.467 to the euro at Friday closing time.

It later varied around the opening values, on very low transferred volumes.

The central bank set Friday the leu’s exchange rate to 4.4725 per euro, the weakest in ten weeks.

On the money market Monday morning, overnight rates were slightly up to 3%-3.5% a year.
