Leu Opens Flat Vs Euro, In Line With Peers

The Romanian leu opened Tuesday flat against the euro, in a quiet market, while other currencies in the region were registering a similar evolution.

The Romanian leu opened Tuesday flat against the euro, in a quiet market, while other currencies in the region were registering a similar evolution.

The leu opened at 4.079/4.08 against the euro, very close to 4.078/4.08 at closing Friday.

Within the first hour, the leu strengthened slightly and, at around GMT0715, it was trading at 4.077/4.078 to the euro.

The central bank set Friday a reference rate of 4.0815 units against the euro, stronger than the previous reference of 4.0906 units.

On the money market, overnight rates were stable at 5.55%-6.15%.
