Leu Opens Flat Vs Euro In Sync With Region

The Romanian leu opened near 4.46 against the euro Thursday morning, and stayed in a narrow range in early session, in sync with the other currencies in the region.

At around 10:20 local time (GMT0720), the leu traded at 4.458/4.461 to the euro, close to Wednesday closing levels of 4.458/4.46 to the euro.

The central bank set Wednesday the leu’s exchange rate at 4.4711 per euro, slightly weaker than 4.4684 per euro in the previous session.

On the money market Thursday morning, overnight rates rose to 2.6%-3.1% a year, from 1.8%-2.3% a year the day before.
