Leu Opens Flat Vs Euro, Trades Above 4.44 Units

The Romanian leu was little changed in early trade Thursday, staying above 4.44 against the euro, on low transferred volumes.

The leu opened at 4.4425/4.445 to the euro, similar to Wednesday closing levels of 4.443/4.4445 to the euro.

In the first hour of the session, the leu traded in a narrow range, between 4.441 and 4.443 units.

Romania's central bank set Wednesday the leu's exchange rate at 4.4511 per euro, slightly stronger than 4.456 per euro in  the previous session.

On the money market Thursday morning, overnight rates fell below 2% a year.
