Leu Opens Slightly Down Vs Euro, Stays Around 4.475 Units

The Romanian leu opened around 4.475 against the euro Tuesday, in the last session of the year, and stayed around the opening levels in the first hour of trading.

At around 10:15 local time (GMT0815), the leu traded at 4.473/4.474 to the euro, slightly weaker than 4.471/4.474 to the euro at Monday close.

Monday, the central bank set the leu’s exchange rate at 4.4639 per euro, about 0.1% weaker than 4.4597 per euro in the previous session.

On the money market Tuesday morning, overnight rates stayed around 1%-1.5% a year.
