Leu Stays Around 4.45 Vs Euro In Early Session

The Romanian leu traded around 4.45 against the euro in the first hour of Wednesday session, in a quiet interbank trading.

The leu opened at 4.446/4.449 to the euro, little changed from 4.4475/4.449 to the euro at Tuesday close.

It later lost some ground, touching an early low at 4.455 per euro, before returning towards 4.451/4.453 per euro at around 10:20 local time (GMT0720).

The Romanian central bank set Tuesday the leu’s exchange rate at 4.456 per euro, from 4.4604 per euro in the previous session.

On the money market Wednesday morning, overnight rates were at 2.5%-3% a year, down from 3%-3.5% a year Tuesday.
