Leu Trades Around 4.46 Vs Euro In Early Session

The Romanian leu opened slightly below 4.46 against the euro Tuesday and traded around the opening levels in the first hour of the session, on low volumes, dealers said.

The leu opened at 4.4575 to the euro, similar to Monday closing values of 4.465/4.4575 to the euro. It varied very little in the first minutes of the session and traded at about 4.4605/4.462 per euro at around 10:15 (GMT0715).

Romania’s central bank set the leu’s exchange at 4.4551 per euro Monday, about 0.5% stronger on the day.

On the money market Tuesday morning, overnight rates were at 1.5%-2% a year.
