Leu Trades Around 4.47 Vs Euro In Quiet Market

The Romanian leu traded around 4.47 against the euro in the first hour of Tuesday session, in a quiet market with low transferred volumes.

The leu opened at 4.47/4.472 to the euro, slightly weaker than 4.467/4.47 to the euro at Monday close. During the first hour of trading the leu varied insignificantly around the 4.47 mark, dealers said.

The Hungarian forint and the Polish zloty were flat against the European currency Tuesday morning.

The Romanian central bank set Monday the leu’s exchange rate at 4.4705 per euro, slightly off a 10-week low of 4.4725 per euro set in the previous session.

On the money market Tuesday morning, overnight rates were stable at around 2.5%-3% a year.
