Romanian Shares Open Down, On Moderate Trading

The Bucharest bourse opened Tuesday in the red, on reduced trading values, while the bulk of activity focused on investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs.

The Bucharest bourse opened Tuesday in the red, on reduced trading values, while the bulk of activity focused on investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs.

At around GMT0742, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was down 0.34%, while the 10-share blue-chip tracker BET was falling 0.44%.

BET-FI, the index tracking the Proprietatea fund and the SIFs, was down 0.73%.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, was dropping 0.52%, while energy companies index BET-NG was down 0.36%.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange by GMT0746 amounted to 2.92 million lei (EUR1=RON4.1084).

Aside from the investment funds, popular stock early Tuesday included oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) and state-owned gas transporter Transgaz (TGN.RO).
