Romanian Shares Open Up, Eyes On Bourse Operator Stock

Shares traded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange opened Wednesday with a slight increase, while bourse operator BVB (BVB.RO) was the top traded issuer within the first hour.

Shares traded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange opened Wednesday with a slight increase, while bourse operator BVB (BVB.RO) was the top traded issuer within the first hour.

At around GMT0750, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was rising 0.35% on the day, while the 10-share blue-chip tracker BET was up 0.36%.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, was up 0.41% on the day.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, was up 0.39%, while the energy companies index BET-NG was gaining 0.68%.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange by GMT0753 Wednesday amounted to 3.73 million lei (EUR1=RON4.1152).

Aside from BVB, other popular stock early Wednesday included the Proprietatea fund, SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO), SIF Moldova (SIF2.RO) and state-owned power grid operator Transelectrica (TEL.RO).
