The Bucharest Stock Exchange opened Wednesday on an upward trend, while trading focused on oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) and financial stocks.

The Bucharest Stock Exchange opened Wednesday on an upward trend, while trading focused on oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) and financial stocks.

At around GMT0752, the Bucharest Stock Exchange's composite index BET-C was up 0.82%, while the 10-share blue-chip index BET was rising 0.91%.

BET-FI, the index tracking investment fund Fondul Proprietatea (FP.RO) and the five regional investment funds, or SIFs, was up 0.92% on the day.

Wider blue-chip tracker BET-XT, which also includes the SIFs, was up 0.98%, while energy companies index BET-NG was gaining 1.57% on the day.

Trades unfolded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange by GMT0757 amounted to 7.28 million lei (EUR1=RON4.091).

Popular stock early Wednesday included the Proprietatea fund, oil services provider Dafora (DAFR.RO), lenders BRD-Groupe Societe Generale (BRD.RO) and Banca Transilvania (TLV.RO), as well as SIF Oltenia (SIF5.RO).
